The design is done with a black outline transfer created from Peter Firmin's original designs, each piece is then hand coloured before it goes back in our on-site kiln. The transfers make each one the same black outline, however the colours may vary.

Smallfilms was created by Oliver Postgate and Peter Firmin in 1959. They made several stop-motion animation TV programmes, Bagpuss, The Clangers, Noggin the Nog and Ivor the Engine, which all became house hold names. We have china designs in based on each of these four programmes.
